Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Science (MBBS) - UniKL 
  • UniKL RCMP is applying integrated teaching in order to produce quality students who are able to deliver effective diagnosis for better treatment of patients.
  • Students learn in context of medical problem integrating all sciences, with the basis of clinical learning
  • Duration : 5 years
  •  Location : UniKL RCMP
  •  Intake : JULY only

Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Science (MBBS) – in collaboration with Vinayaka Missions University, India
  • This is a medical programme offering MBBS degree on an off-shore platform, wherein the students will undergo the pre-clinical years in UniKL RCMP campus in Ipoh, and will undergo the clinical training years in the Vinayaka Missions University campus in Salem, India.
  • Duration : 5 years
  • Degree will be awarded by UniKL
  • Intake : JULY Only

Minda Pengarang: Kenaikan elaun pelajar MARA diharap pertingkat kualiti tenaga mahir


KESEDIAAN Ahli Lembaga Pengarah Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) menaikkan kadar elaun latihan pelajar kemahiran di bawah seliaan institusi di bawah kendaliannya sudah tentu menggembirakan lebih 20,000 pelajar yang sedang mengikuti program berkenaan di seluruh negara. 

Tekanan kos sara hidup yang sudah menjadi fenomena global dan bukan saja dialami rakyat di negara ini, menimbulkan kesempitan kepada pelajar terbabit dalam usaha untuk menguruskan kehidupan seharian ketika di kampus mereka. Sebahagian besar elaun itu diputuskan pada 1980-an atau 1990-an dan sudah sampai masanya kini kadar itu dikaji semula selepas diguna pakai untuk satu tempoh yang lama, sesuai dengan peredaran zaman. Elaun berjumlah RM200, umpamanya mungkin hanya mencukupi pada era 80-an atau 90-an dan tidak sesuai lagi untuk menampung perbelanjaan pelajar sekarang, walaupun mereka tinggal di asrama. 

Justeru, langkah MARA menaikkan elaun pelajar yang mengikuti latihan kemahiran di bawah seliaannya itu adalah satu langkah tepat dan sememangnya wajar. Keputusan itu membabitkan semua pelajar yang sedang mengikuti latihan di Pusat Giat Mara dan Institut Kemahiran Mara (IKM). Kita bersetuju dengan Pengerusi MARA, Datuk Idris Jusoh bahawa kenaikan elaun itu adalah sejajar dengan usaha majlis berkenaan untuk memberikan khidmat terbaik kepada penuntutnya, terutama dalam hal kebajikan pelajar.

Sebanyak 22,800 tempat disediakan di Giat Mara dan 2,481 tempat di IKM untuk pelajar lepasan Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) tahun lalu bagi sesi bermula Julai depan. Apabila diluluskan oleh Kementerian Kewangan kelak, kadar elaun baru pelajar di Pusat Giat Mara dan IKM akan diselaraskan dengan jumlah bayaran yang diterima penuntut di Institut Latihan Perindustrian (ILP) dan Institut Kemahiran Belia Negara (IKBN). 
Pada masa ini, pelatih di Pusat Giat Mara menerima elaun RM200 sebulan, manakala penuntut IKM mendapat RM350. Mereka menjalani latihan kemahiran selama enam bulan hingga setahun dalam pelbagai bidang seperti masakan, bengkel, jahitan dan kimpalan. Seperti ditegaskan Pengerusi MARA, kenaikan elaun itu diharap dapat memberi manfaat kepada pelajar di kedua-dua institusi berkenaan untuk lebih berdaya saing dalam menghadapi cabaran masa kini. 
Kenaikan elaun itu bertujuan menambah baik keadaan di kolej yang diseliakan MARA selaras dengan penjenamaan semula institusi terbabit sebagai pusat kemahiran kelas pertama, sekali gus pengeluar utama tenaga mahir dan profesional di negara ini. Sebelum ini, IKM MARA dilihat sebagai institusi kelas kedua kepada pelajar yang gagal memasuki pusat pengajian tinggi dan politeknik. Kita berharap dengan kenaikan elaun itu, ia dapat mempertingkatkan imej institusi berkenaan dan dapat menampung kos sara hidup pelajar bagi tempoh beberapa tahun akan datang.

Sometimes we forget


Teachers often have a trying time dealing with vulnerable teens. Their charges can sometimes be downright rude seeking individuality, yet there are other times when they cry for attention.
WITH the constant shift in interactions between students and colleagues, it is probably an oversight to sometimes forget the age group of the person or persons we are dealing with at the precise moment.
One minute you are in the staffroom enjoying some celebrity scandal suitable for an “adults only” audience, and the next minute, you are dealing with a tiff between your students, or providing advice for a “crushed” teenage heart.
Teachers often do such an admirable job of accommodating communication between generations that at times, they appear to be hosting a children’s programme and chairing an international conference concurrently.
However, there are times when we slip up and quite forgivably so, given the continuous nature and frequency of switching between conversations.
There is usually no in-between period of readjusting our mental frame to suit the audience that presently seeks our attention.
And this is when we sometimes forget. We forget that the gawky teenager whining about his classmates or the teenage girl with a crush on every male teacher, is after all still a teenager.
A person in a transitory period of his life, having recently left childhood and is now on an uncertain (and sometimes frightening) journey towards adulthood.
A person in search of self-identity; constantly dealing between the need to cling on and the need to let go.
I have found it necessary to stop and remind myself of this truth.
That my students are not the adults in the staffroom whose mutual idiosyncrasies we can choose to ignore if we want to .
These are people who are at a vulnerable stage in their lives.
As teachers, our words may make a difference in the way they perceive themselves and direct their life’s path.
They seek individuality and yet crave conformity. They want private space, but cry for attention.
Whether we like it or not, teachers are caught in this rite of passage in their students’ lives.
The things we say or do may creep surreptitiously into our students and form a significant part of their outlook in life.
Disciplinary action is necessary against rudeness, flagrant disregard of school rules and deliberate disrespect.
However, there are also minor offences that do not warrant a formal written warning but are exceedingly annoying.
Students saunter into classes without acknowledging the teacher’s presence or give a less-than-polite reply to a routine question.
There are times when teachers are tempted to use harsh words in response to this obvious lack of respect for authority.
I remember using caustic remarks to ‘put a student in his place’ only to wonder later if those words were necessary or justified as they were just adolescents.
I constantly remind myself that the swagger, extreme pretentiousness, boasting or even snitching about other classmates is often a cry for attention, a need to project their identity and a real attempt at building a sense of self-worth.
Certain forms of behaviour among my students such as the need to appear attractive before the opposite sex both amuse and annoy me until I remember that even this is part of their growing up.
While it may have been momentarily gratifying to see the deflated look on a cocky student after a sharp rejoinder, I feel uncomfortable reflecting that the student was part adult-part child, and my role was to educate, not show who was smarter.
The balance between being firm without appearing weak is probably not easy to achieve but totally necessary in the classroom.
Perhaps remembering our own teenage years and what we went through with our teachers may help us in dealing with our present students.
We may have not come away completely unscathed but thankfully for most of us, there were not enough cynical adult lips that dangerously inhibited our transition from child to adult.
There were also teachers who remembered that we were not yet adults and supported rather than ridiculed us.
And because it is so easy to forget these things, we need to remind ourselves from time to time that if we have to pass judgments on our students, our decisions have to be based on a set of rules which are different from the ones we apply to people who are already adults.
It is not fair to make the usual adult demands of maturity on those who are not yet adults.

Kursus Pembantu Rumah Profesional di GiatMARA


RAUB 27 April - Pusat GiatMara memperkenalkan kursus Pembantu Rumah Profesional sejak tiga bulan lalu bagi membantu kerajaan mengatasi masalah mendapatkan tenaga kerja itu di negara ini.

Pengerusinya, Datuk Shahiruddin Ab. Moin berkata, kursus tersebut dilaksanakan di GiatMara Subang Jaya, Selangor yang kini melatih seramai 20 pelatih dan 30 pegawainya dalam bidang berkenaan.
Katanya, pegawai terbabit akan ditempatkan di pusat latihan baru yang akan dibuka di setiap negeri mulai Mei ini, bagi memberi latihan dan kursus kepada mereka yang berminat dalam kursus itu.

"GiatMara akan menyediakan segala kelengkapan bagi membolehkan para pelatih terbabit mendapat latihan dan kursus maksimum selama enam bulan.

"Selain menerima latihan tentang cara menjaga bayi dan kanak kanak, pelatih terbabit akan turut diberikan latihan mengurus rumah termasuk penyediaan makanan, mendobi pakaian, membersih rumah dan penjagaan orang tua dan sebagainya secara profesional," katanya.

Beliau berkata demikian kepada pemberita selepas menyampaikan Bantuan Rakyat 1Malaysia (BR1M) kepada 250 penduduk di Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) Dong di Dewan Orang Ramai Kampung Gali Tengah dekat sini semalam.
Menurutnya, keutamaan diberikan kepada mereka yang berusia antara 28 hingga 48 tahun memandangkan golongan itu adalah matang serta sesuai bekerja sebagai pembantu rumah.

Beliau yang juga Ahli Dewan Undangan Negeri (ADUN) Dong memberitahu, pihaknya akan berbincang dengan Kementerian Pembangunan Keluarga, Wanita dan Masyarakat serta Kementerian Sumber Manusia bagi mengemaskan lagi kursus serta latihan tersebut.

Shahiruddin berkata, mereka yang tamat latihan akan diberi sijil yang diiktiraf oleh kerajaan.
Mengenai gaji bagi mereka yang menceburi bidang tersebut, beliau memberitahu, pihaknya akan mengadakan rundingan dengan kementerian berkenaan bagi menentukan kadar gaji yang sepatutnya diberikan kepada mereka.

Katanya, pihaknya menerima pelbagai permintaan sama ada melalui khidmat pesanan ringkas (SMS), surat dan telefon supaya kursus tersebut diadakan bagi mengatasi masalah mendapatkan pembantu rumah di negara ini.

"Malaysia terpaksa mengimport ribuan pembantu rumah dari Indonesia, Filipina dan beberapa negara lain kerana menghadapi kesukaran mendapatkan khidmat rakyat tempatan.

"Kita berharap dengan usaha itu, masalah tersebut dapat diatasi selain mengurangkan pengambilan rakyat negara asing dan secara tidak langsung memberi sumber pendapatan kepada rakyat tempatan," katanya.

Selain kursus tersebut katanya, GiatMara juga akan memperkenalkan dua kursus baru tahun ini iaitu Jentera Berat dan Pemandu Pelancong.

90 peratus jururawat telah diisi


KUALA LUMPUR 7 Mei - Kementerian Kesihatan yakin dapat mencapai sasaran nisbah seorang jururawat dengan 200 pesakit lebih awal daripada jangkaan 2015.

Timbalan Menterinya, Datuk Rosnah Rashid Shirlin berkata, pada masa ini nisbah jururawat dengan pesakit ialah 1:347 iaitu melebihi sasaran untuk tahun ini iaitu 1:375.


''Kita yakin dapat mencapai sasaran itu mengikut anggaran sebenar tetapi kita juga perlu melihat keperluan jururawat di negara ini berdasarkan pertambahan fasiliti kesihatan negara," katanya selepas menutup Kem Kesihatan sempena Hari Jururawat Antarabangsa di Sekolah Kebangsaan Seksyen 6, Kota Damansara, dekat sini semalam.

Menurut beliau, pengisian perjawatan jururawat telah mencapai lebih daripada 90 peratus dan ia merupakan pengisian yang terbanyak di kementerian terlibat.

GiatMara akan dijenama semula

KUALA LUMPUR 7 Mei - GiatMara akan memperkenalkan Program Transformasi GiatMara (GMTP) dalam usaha menjenamakan semula pusat latihan itu yang sering dilabel untuk mereka yang mempunyai taraf pendidikan rendah.

Ketua Pengarah Mara, Datuk Ibrahim Ahmad berkata, GMTP bakal memberi tumpuan kepada tujuh cabang iaitu pembangunan modal insan, merekayasa sistem latihan dan program usahawan.

"Turut diberi tumpuan ialah program menjana pendapatan, giat dekat rakyat, pengantarabangsaan dan penjenamaan GiatMara," katanya pada sidang akhbar selepas merasmikan GMTP, di sini hari ini.

Turut hadir, Pengerusi GiatMara, Datuk Shahirudin Ab. Moin dan Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif GiatMara, Meriyam Abd. Majid.

Melalui GMTP, Ibrahim berkata, sistem latihan yang terdapat di pusat latihan GiatMara akan dipertingkatkan.
